The people and the partnership
Some collaborations are about more than just an event—they’re about creating moments that bring people together for something bigger. Family Paths, a nonprofit dedicated to child abuse prevention and parental crisis counseling, had been making a difference in their local community since 1972. When they planned a fundraising concert during National Child Abuse Prevention Month, they saw an opportunity to not only raise funds but also educate the public about their critical work.
At Hart Communications, we believe in authenticity, generosity, and courage—helping organisations like Family Paths tell their stories in ways that spark engagement and action. This concert wasn’t just about music; it was about raising awareness and mobilizing support for vulnerable families

The challenge: two artists, two audiences, one cause
Family Paths had an incredible opportunity: Irish folk legend Mary Black and GRAMMY-winning jazz & R&B powerhouse Ledisi had both donated their time to perform.
The challenge? These two artists had distinct fan bases. The concert needed to feel like a once-in-a-lifetime event, drawing in diverse audiences while also ensuring that attendees left with a deeper understanding of Family Paths’ mission.
Our job was to create a communications strategy that didn’t just promote a concert but positioned it as a powerful moment for advocacy and impact.

The journey: a strategy that hit all the right notes
At Hart Communications, we know that great events need more than just promotion—they need a thoughtful, multi-channel approach that builds anticipation and engagement.
- We secured a media sponsorship with a local radio station, ensuring high visibility through live interviews, ticket giveaways, and on-air discussions about the cause.
- We developed educational media materials, equipping journalists with compelling facts about child abuse prevention, the impact of Family Paths’ work, and how the community could get involved.
- We pitched local media outlets, securing coverage that emphasized both the star power of the event and the importance of the cause.
The solution: a concert that made a difference
The result was more than just a full house—it was a movement:
- Well-placed media coverage that expanded Family Paths’ reach beyond their existing network.
- Strong on-air promotion by the radio sponsor, ensuring that the event was front-of-mind for a broad audience.
- Increased visibility and funding, helping Family Paths further their essential work supporting families in crisis.
The impact: turning moments into momentum
At Hart Communications, we believe in using communications and storytelling as tools for change. This project wasn’t just about filling seats at a concert—it was about making sure every person who attended left with a deeper understanding of Family Paths’ mission and how they could help.
